locked myself out of phone and now stuck on download mode

I locked myself out of my lg stylo 4 and trying to get it unlocked I got stuck in download mode. so, first I need to get out of download mode. I'm aware of how to hard reset my phone but if at all possible I would like to keep all my current data and just somehow maybe bypass or reset the lock screen.

what did you do before this happened? i think the only way to unlock the lockscreen is to factory reset unfortunately.
