Hi, we are trialing some Xoom tablets at school. Before handing them out to the students I want to be able to lock them down so that students can't

1. Install new apps
2. Change desktop themes
3. Setup e-mail
4. Access system settings
etc

Are there applications that will allow you to do all of this or even some aspects? What other options are available?

We simply want to use the tablets as "kiosks" (ie internet access and a few authorised apps) in a multi-user environment.

Check out the app called "Seal"

https://market.android.com/search?q=Seal&so=1&c=apps

It makes it so you have to type in a pin or do a finger trace to open certain apps. Like settings, email, the android market, etc. And make sure you have the "Unknown Sources" thing unchecked in Settings > Applications when you're all done configuring the tablet.

Oh, and never give the students the login/password for the google account you install on the tablets. They will then be able to install apps from the Android Market online and bypass apps like Seal.

Do a Google search on "Tab Pilot"(I am a new member so I can not post links yet). It is called tab pilot learning system and looks like what you are looking for.:D
