Help Log in defaults to phone app

Everytime I sign in using my PIN code to access my phone instead of opening to the regular home screen with the Google widget at the top and my apps icons that I have on that one home screen it automatically opens and launches the phone app. I tried this over and over and try to change settings and I cannot figure out how to make it stop. Does anyone have any advice how to " turn off it from launching into the phone every time I use my pin to sign in
to acces my Moto X pure?

I would try starting in Safe Mode. That will allow you to launch third party apps, one by one, to try to find what's causing the problem. If that doesn't work I would try a factory data reset.
