Lollipop downgrade to kitkat

Since I have upgraded my Verizon galaxy s4 to lollipop I can't stand my phone. I NEED to downgrade badly. I've read allot of posts online but people say it works than others say it doesn't. Some say the program on your computer to send the firmware is full of malware. All I'm looking for is a straight forward answer. Is it safe to do and how can I do it without screwing anything up? Will it delete anything on my phone or will it just change the version. Please someone help. I can't stand this phone anymore.

Flash TWRP, then do a full wipe, flash a KitKat ROM. You can downgrade ROMs, but not firmware.
