Help Lollipop Screen Blacking out upon accessing Notification Panel

My Note 4 was operating perfectly prior to updating to the new Lollipop OS yesterday; my screen will now continuously black out upon accessing the Notification Panel. It'll turn on again following the press of either the Home or Power button, but will black out again in moments if I do not leave the Panel.
My screen display is set to remain on for 5mins of inactivity, yet this causes it to turn off spontaneously. I do not believe it has anything to do with my settings, but I'll check whatever you suggest.
I read somewhere that a "cheap" phone case are the culprit for this issue. And while removing my magnetic case does actually resolve this, putting it back on returns the predicament. However, my case isn't cheap and is manufactured by Samsung.
Please help me.

Is there any way the magnet in the case has shifted? Or if the case is getting broken in the flap my not stay in its original position when opened. Just thoughts.
Good Luck!

I've been using cell phones since they were invented. I remember having this monster in my car which worked once in a while and most certainly not mobile. I've had 'mobiles' since then. Never used a case and have never regretted using the bare phone. Never had a problem a case would have avoided. Maybe just jettison the case!

Its called proximity sensor if enabled it will black out screen when something gets in the way of this sensor it thinks the phone is next to ur head as answering the phone check settings for proximity sensor n turn it off. N or disable motion feature.

Also if ur phone has a magnet to hold the flap closed it could be triggering the magnetic feature as well to dim backlighting when in contact with magnets. I had a phone that would dim screen when flipping the phone shut this sensor is called a reed switch.

I have the same problem with my N910K, it has a genuine SView case, works fine for about an hour after boot, after that it locks the screen almost immediately.

Sounds to me what's happening here is the magnet that is holding the cover to the screen is magnetizing the internal parts of the phone. Causing interference of the internal sensors. Take the case off the phone n see if the problem goes away...

!!!!Important information below!!!!!
Keep in mind it may not go away right away cause the parts inside are still magnetized....

Over time like a week of useage w/out case. If problem goes away than get another case "without" magnets. Or take the magnets out of ur existing case

Tested mine, works fine without the case, only has the problem with the case fitted. It's a genuine S-View case though and it never gave any problems on the previous version of Lollipop (N910K is on it's second round of Lollipop) or KitKat before that, so that suggests to me that it's something buggy in the current build, not the actual hardware.

Maybe feature related as to how the software utilizes the sensors. The way I have it in mind makes sense but sometimes trying to place it in words is hard sometimes for me. Hope this helps. U may want to ask lordvincent he' s a lot better at this than iam. :)
