Help Lollipop: Smartlock Trusted Places not working

I use Smartlock for Trusted Places and Trusted Devices only. It is working fine with devices (car, bluetooth headset, watch, etc). But it has stopped working with locations.

My troubleshoots:
- went to uninstall PlayService updates and reinstall them - it was greyed out and I was unable to do this.
- I removed my home location, shut down the phone and then rebooted and added the location in again
- made sure I had the highest possible accuracy settings and have GPS and wifi turned on at all times

Phone: Nexus 5
Android: v5.1
Google Play Services: v7.0.99

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Are you using any apps/widgets that are able to turn the screen off via tapping the screen instead of pressing the power button?

Nope, nothing like that

Just had a look elsewhere online, and it's to do with Google Play Services. Needs to be on ver 7.3 apparently to work again.

Yep, I found that yesterday. AndroidPolice has some details - plus a download for GPS 7.3 if you need it.

Google upgraded my Play Services to 7.3.29 and so far, it appears Smart Lock is working fine again
