Help lollipop vs kit kat

iRULU 9" Google Android 4.4 16GB Tablet PC Quad Core Dual Camera w/ Keyboard

Questions :
1. Is my tablet capable to be "upgraded" to 5.1 lollipop ?
2. If yes, what are the advantages of having lollipop ?
3. If yes again, where can I find the instructions to do the "upgrade" ?

I have yet to receive the tablet. It's being delivered to me.
I use mainly Windows PC . My experience with Android is limited.

Thank you.

Android updates come from the device manufacturer or your carrier.

To check on most devices go to Settings --> System Updates

Pressing System Updates will cause your phone to check for new updates. If there's an update available it will notify you and ask to install OTA.

Carriers/manufacturers release Android updates in stages to everyone, so for example if they started sending out the update last week it could be several more weeks until you receive it. Or you could get it tomorrow, depending on when you're randomly selected.

Some people prefer KitKat, others Lollipop, here is some info:

Yup, very much so. And given that Irulu of Shenzhen are really a bottom-line budget Chinese manufacturer, any updates are extremely unlikely. You get what it comes with, and if you want a newer OS version, you'll be buying a new tablet, that's it. Bare in mind the Irulu is a $50 tablet, and not a $400 Samsung Tab or Apple iPad or whatever. .
