Long message tone.

I have a Galaxy S2 and a long and loud message tone that can be heard outside on a busy street.

On a iPhone when a message is received I can just pick up the phone and even though the alert is still ringing I can press volume down to silence it, and then go on to read my sms or email or whatever.

However I have yet to find such functionality on the Galaxy.

Can it be done?

I'm currently on CM 7.2 but a friend with the same problem is on stock ics.

I prefer to use a short tone BUT also set it to long vibrate mode. This is a feature of CM7.2.
