Long Time Smart Phone USer, First With Data ...

Newbie
Howdy, I'm new to the world of internet connected phones, but not smart phones. I just ordered an HTC Droid Incredible online and it should be here on Friday. This will be my 4th 'Smart Phone', but my first with a data plan. Prior smart phones were Palm Treo 600, Samsung SCH-i730 and my current Palm Centro. Prior to the smart phones I had a string of Sony Clie Palm OS PDAs.

My Incredible will be the 3rd in the house, my wife and daughter both got theirs last month so I'll be hanging out in the Incredible forum a lot. :D

I cannot imagine having a phone without mobile data since I've used mine for so long.

Have fun with it and welcome!

Thanks.

The main thing I wanted from the PDAs and later smart phones was data consistency. If I'm with you now and you give me a new phone number, I enter it in my phone & sync with my PC and now it's in both places. I had a couple of apps I ran, but one set of data was the biggie.

When Verizon went to requiring all smart phones to have data, the Centro was the last one grandfathered in to not having that requirement. I really didn't want to spend the $30/month. So, when the Centro went BOGO for $10, I jumped and got 2, thinking I could go a long time that way with no data charges.

Well, as I watched more and more folks get iPhones and Droids, I got the bug and here I am not 2 years later ponying up for a data plan and looking forward to it. :p
