Looking at trying a custom ROM. Some advice please.

Hi guys.

I'm on an international GT-I 9100, with Vodafone UK. I rooted a few months ago, but are still running the standard stock ICS ROM. However I've been encountering a HUGE problem with the phone rebooting about 6 times, and taking up to 30 mins to start working when its first switched on.

So I've decided I might try a custom ROM.

First of all can someone recommend a decent stable ICS ROM.

Also what's the score with modems? I had an old rooted 1st generation HTC desire, and ran loads of different roms on there without having to install a modem? Do you always need to install a modem with a GS2 ROM? Or do the roms come with them already installed, and its personal choice whether you install a new one or not?

Any advice would be great.

You could either try going into Recovery mode and wiping cache and Dalvik cache or, if that doesn't help, a Factory Reset.

NEAT ROM is considered one of the most popular and stable ROM's around and is based largely on the stock firmware.

You do not have to flash a modem if you are happy with your present one, which will be a Vodafone configured modem. Personally I found the Vodafone modem to be not as good as the one I am using at present on the Vodafone network, LPX. For more information on modems, see here:--

i could recommend Portal Rom 2.1 ... latest stock 4.0.4 LPT with decent theme and tweaks, superb performance and battery life
