Looking for a 'generic' push notifications solution

I usually rely on SMS/e-mail to receive notifications from applications running on my servers. Lately, Verizon SMS has been really slow (up to 10 minutes), so I would like to find a better (but still battery friendly) solution.

Is anyone aware of an application which would allow me to push out my own notifications from my Windows application (i.e., via command line execution/batch file) to my phone?

Maybe Notify My Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.usk.app.notifymyandroid

That's pretty much what I am looking for, since I do use Growl, but the software seems to have been abandoned :(

I did notice the lack of recent activity, however I've been using it for a couple of months to receive notifications from my NAS and WHS (via email submission and direct push respectively) without any issues.
