Looking for a new Android phone

Hi, I currently have a HTC Hero. I've been very satisfied with it. I have had it for a little over a year now. Now I want to "upgrade".

I've at least 2 phones in mind...

Samsung I9000 Galaxy S
HTC Desire HD

Are there any better Android phones on the market atm?

Any suggestions? Any reason I should maybe wait for a better one, like any soon to be released.

As with any thread like this:

You need to clarify what "better" means for you. Post your needs/wants and we can provide relevant and meaningful responses. Otherwise, you're just going to get fanboys trying to convince you to get what they prefer. One size does not fit all when it comes to selecting a smartphone.

Don't forget to include things such as carrier and budget.

Yes, I should be more specific.

There is no limit for the budget. I can pick any phone I want. The company I work for is paying the phone. The phone should be unlocked and unbranded.

I "just" want the best phone. And not necessarily the best phone for the money, if you know what I mean.

And as I posted earlier. The HTC Desire HD and Samsung I9000 Galaxy S are 2 phones that looks interesting.

Well you probably can't go wrong with either phone,i suggest you go and check out each phone to get a hands on feel to see what you like and don't like between the two.If you are happy with the HTC Hero then i would say go with the HTC Desire HD.

I think either one of those two is a good choice if you just want the fastest, biggest, prettiest phone out there. I'd consider Nexus S over Galaxy S, though, since, as far as I know, they are pretty much identical, except Nexus has better support from Google (faster updates) and some extra goodies (newer version of Android, near field communications chip or whatever it was called).

I would go with the HD, I think that's a solid device and it reminds me of my evo. Plus since you're already familiar with Sense UI then you will feel right at home.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not from the UK or USA. I'm from Denmark.
(I'm just testing a Samsung I9000 Galaxy S now - I have also tried a HTC Desire for 4 days). I like em both very much...

I was kinda thinking if there maybe was another nice phone that I might have "missed", or maybe some new once are about to be released...

Again thanks for your input, guys.

My feeling is that the vast majority of users that look here (or post in this subset of the forum) are from the US. The trouble here is we barely know what unbranded phone means. We just don't get many android devices (or other devices) that fit that description here. This is probably why people are slow on the advice... because we just don't know!
