looking for a speech recognition app

I am disabled and need to be able to use an android phone or tablet completely by voice. I know there are a good number of voice-recognition apps, but to my knowledge, you have to press a button every time you need the device to listen to you. Is there an app that I could initiate by voice? If that's not possible, is there an app that someone could initiate for me, and from there I could start controlling other functions by voice? In other words, an app that would continue actively listening for my voice for longer periods of time.

I can't speak from personal experience but apparently a few of the virtual assistant apps can be set to always listen for an activation keyword so that the app doesn't have to be tapped to engage. Among them:

AVX (and its siblings EVA & EVAN) seems to have a user-programmable keyword. It's free to try for 30-days and $19.99 to buy.

Dragon Assistant (free) uses the keywords "Hello Dragon".

Skyvi (free) can always listen for commands (from what I've read).

I've read that utilizing the always-listening mode on these kinds of apps drains noticeably more battery (as one would expect).

I don't know if these apps can be started automatically at boot-up, but if not, I think that there are launchers that can do this automatically.
