So, I got an Incredible 2 from my sister that she lost, and subsequently found. It cannot be used on the Verizon network anymore, but I'm repurposing it as an XBMC remote as well as other things. Anyway, I'd like to root it and put a custom ROM on there to get rid of all the Verizon crap taking up space and I'd like to be able to run the XBMC app. I'd like to retain access to the market and google apps (gmail, search, etc). I'm not a complete dolt (modded Wii, PS2, XBOX), I'm simply looking to make sure I'm going about things the right way....
Currently the phone is on Android 2.3.4 (v4.08.605.3) with HTC Sense version 2.1. In the All Things Root forum for the Inc2 (HERE) it has the instructions for downgrading 2.3.4 (v5.10.605.9), am I correct in assuming this will work for my version as well? Which ICS Rom is the best or most stable? Is it even worth going to ICS?
Mainly I'm just looking for opinion...what's your experience with the roms you've used. Pros and cons. Thanks in advance!
