looking for an app that can log CPU and memory usage

Special K

Newbie
I am looking for an app that can log CPU and memory usage. I have already found several that provide real time information, but none of them provide historical information. SystemPanel comes close: it provides real time CPU, memory, network, and other information and does provide historical CPU usage and battery life, but for some reason does not provide historical memory usage.

Is there any app out there that provides historical CPU and memory usage?

I like cpu watchdog (free). it doesn't have full historical stats, but it generates alerts when a background app uses cpu above a user defined threshold. also keeps historical record of those alerts.

Sometimes apps will run asrtay and generates a series of alerts one after another. Killing and restarting the app usually fixes that.

As long as that doesn't happen too often for a given app, no problem. but I have one app "simple check book" that did it repeatedly once you get a few hundred entries in the ledger. cpu watchdog helped me figure that particular app was one I am better off without (uninstalled the app and started managing my checkbook on a spreadsheet in Google drive)

CPU Watchdog alerts me to the AF forum app at least daily :(
EDIT I was thinking of Watchdog Lite sorry
That's the app I was referring to. When I open the app, it calls itself "watchdog light". In the playstore it calls itself "watchdog task manager light". I'm not sure where I got the name "cpu watchdog" from.

System Monitor can also be configured to monitor/record different stats in the background. As @Unforgiven mentioned, though, be on the lookout for a performance and battery hit with any app constantly logging data.

SysteMon doesn't record a log of stats that you can review after the fact, but it does have a handy notification entry to display current processor load, memory allocation, network utilization, as well as the top 5 apps using the processor.

And 3C Toolbox, that @EarlyMon suggested, is also a great option - though it may be a bit of overkill for what you seek. Seriously, that app can do everything (including some stuff that you probably shouldn't do ;) ).

There are probably a half-dozen other apps that I've experimented with in the past to do similar system monitoring, but these are the ones that I could recall off the top of my head. :D

I'd think you would want to be careful with apps like that as it may become a major battery drain.

Yes, I also think those apps might result in battery drain.
The stock widget of my mobile, active app manager, shows real time RAM usage.
In developer options, I can enable 'Show CPU usage' for real time information.

System Monitor is closest to what I'm looking for. If they would add a way to export the data as a .csv or some other text format, it would be perfect. As it is, it is good enough for my purposes.
