looking for app - paste custom text into text box

[polstein]

Some keyboard have the built Shortcut/Function keyboard that lets you create your own custom shortcuts to put in as text.

For example:

ty = Thank You
t = the
op = Sorry, on phone, can't talk now
etc..

Sadly, not all keyboards have this feature. Is there a separate app that can mimic this function, even if outside the keyboard itself?

Having no luck on the market searches - if it exists, I can't find it with all the wrong matches!

Thanks for any help!

I don't know of a separate app, but "Thumb Keyboard" can do this, You can also set up commonly used phrases and have access to them by hitting one key (pushpin key). I don't see a free version but right now it's on sale in the Play Store for $1.29 (50% off).

got tasker? If yes then you have lot of options to paste a few things you set up (like usernames, passwords). You can launch them with a phone shake or long search press or some other things and have tasker set the clipboard so you can paste. Not really integrated with the text edit box though.

I’d try that keyboard but don’t have the space. Meanwhile, I rely on the ‘snippets’ feature of Clipper Plus with Sync to recall frequently used text...

Clipper Plus is a simple but powerful clipboard manager & clipboard history tool for your phone or tablet. Don't worry about losing your clipboard's contents: Clipper automatically remembers everything that you've copied. Open Clipper at any time from the notification bar to copy, view, edit or share old clippings. Save and organize clippings into different lists. Store repetitive pieces of text in Clipper as clippings and copy them whenever you need to. Synchronize all of this online and between multiple devices.
