Looking for app to help with mp3 problem

I have several songs on my standard musicplayer that have no songor album information. Some are from my computer that were ripped and Media Player didn't find the album information. Others I transferred in from Google Play downloads so they're only listed by number. I have a Galaxy 2 phone. Is there an app that can locate album and song information and correct the mp3 files like Media Player or ITunes would? Thanks!!

Things like itag, I think it's called, find lost art and info.
You might checkout "soundhound" for a plethora of info on just about any song or album, also.

On your PC use 'mp3tag'. It's a mainly manual process but you're sure at the end that all is correct.

I've always wondered how to get those things. It never worked on my files though. Does it have to be named in a specific way for the data to be matched to my Mp3?

See ... ID3 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ... for an explanation of tags and why. But basically
After the creation of the MP3 standard, there appeared a problem with storing data about the file. Standalone MP3s didn't have any special method of doing this. In 1996 Eric Kemp had the idea to add a small chunk of data to the audio file, thus solving the problem.

This "small chunk of data" is what other programs (mp3 players etc) use to identify the song/track/whatever. What is in this data (the mp3 tag) is "believed". That is, there is no other way for an application to determine what the mp3 track is apart from these 'tags'. For example, I've just been through a marathon mp3tag session with all my MP3s (c. 3500+) and several were tagged incorrectly. The mp3 player would say that Stevie Wonder was playing when, in fact, it was the Sex Pistols (for example!!!).

Thus my advice in these circumstances is always to edit the tags manually. And to get into the habit of ensuring they are correct when you add mp3s to your collection.

Thanks Dave. Wow, I've never had a problem where the wrong details showed up in an Mp3 file, just a lot of mixed up album and artist data. It keeps separating them even though it was from the same artist. I gave up long ago and just made my own playlist for certain groups. haha

This was either down to my lack of care when ripping the songs/albums and entering the wrong details or the wrong details being downloaded if I used an 'online' database (for ripping I use CDex which uses some form of free interweb-based database). I now take more care .... :o
