Hi All,
Just joined the forum today, and started going through the stickys and searching for info to gain some context on the overall current landscape of mobile development. I've got almost 20 years of experience with embedded, desktop, web, and server based applications in a number of vertical industries, but I'd like to get my bearings as I start looking into mobile app dev.
I'd like a seasoned viewpoint on some questions regarding the current state of mobile app dev.
Thanks!

I'd like a seasoned viewpoint on some questions regarding the current state of mobile app dev.
- I've read that 80% or so of mobile development gigs are for native apps, is this (still) true?
- Do many native mobile developers design and code for both android and iOS?
- How prevalent are 'hybrid' HTML5 apps? Do they truly allow for cross-platform (android/iOS) development (outside of the generic container app with the webkit instance)?
- Regarding the likely future a few years out, do you guys think that html5 APIs will eventually fill in the gaps with native mobile phone APIs?
- How much of a performance hit is the use of html5 vs native in terms of user experience? Let's assume we're not talking about gaming, and the UI requirements are limited to something like jQuery mobile
- What about other frameworks that hook into the C++ layer of things, like Qt
Thanks!
