I'm the president of the Virginia Herpetological Society. We are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt educational organization and we've been around for >50 yrs promoting the research on, and conservation and education of, Virginia's native reptiles and amphibians.

We are looking for someone willing to develop an idea for an app we have. At the simplest form, it would have all native frogs with pictures, range maps, and be able to play recordings of each species advertisement call.
Ideally, we would have the same features as above but also be able to use the GPS location to filter out species that are not known for that county, and display only the frogs likely to be there.
From my searches, nothing exists like this on the app market (or on Apple's app store), so it would be unique. But it would function similar to the other animal sound apps I've seen.
Ultimately, we would charge a few bucks for this app and it would go towards our grant awards. In addition, this would contribute to the accessible information to our professional and amateur herpetologists in order to track populations, especially since many species are in decline. Depending upon the generosity of the developer, we would also like to see other apps that would aid in the identification of our native turtles, snakes, lizards and salamanders.
We have access to all of the media needed to develop this app, like the photos and recordings (see our website).
A developer would get full recognition. If the app were successful enough to cover costs, I could see paying this developer a small amount in appreciation.
If anyone were interested, please write me to discuss. Thanks!
