Looking for external microphone

I would like to film interviews with good sound with the phone.

if u take off back cover there is a thing that looks like u can connect sth to it but i think it`s rather for external gps but i`m not sure bout that. correct me someone pls if i`m wrong, thx

Has anyone had any luck finding an external mike. Is it possible to plug a microphone into the headphone jack as is done on the iphone?

The connector on the iPhone is the same as on the SGS2 so I would have thought that any similar mic would be suitable. Having said that, I haven't tried it as I have no need for an external mic.

I got an adaptor made for the jack , to allow me to connect a microphone, but it doesn't seem to work.

When i record, it uses the built in mic.

Is there anyway to get the phone to switch to using the external mic?

Shoud be possible in theory as the headphone/mic works right.
