Looking for flashcard app with specific features

Note, I have tried Anki but it just keeps testing the cards in the same order you create the deck over and over (even when you set random) which is useless.

Essential features:

  • support for foreign language characters
  • csv/text file import of questions and answers
  • either an intelligent system (such as Leitner) that orders cards according how often you get answers right or wrong, OR a system that lets you rank how well you know the answer as opposed to simply 'know', 'don't know'

The following would be handy but not essential:

  • the ability to flip the deck (show answers first and choose the question)
  • existing library of public decks

Thanks!

After doing a lot of research a few months ago, I chose the excellent AnyMemo and I couldn't be happier with it. It's free. It's open source. And it meets all of your criteria.

In addition, it has text-to-speech synthesis (for several languages) in order to help you study foreign languages. Very cool feature.

FYI: Since long before I got an Android phone, I have been using the freeware PC program called "CueCard" for flash cards. It's easy to export CueCard decks as TXT or CSV files, and then to use the free Anymemo converter (which is available for PC, Mac, & Linux) to convert those files to the Anymemo database format that you load onto your Android device. It's nice to be able to create flash card files on a PC (with a full keyboard). But there are lots of pre-made study decks available at this link.

There are helpful reviews about several Android Flash card apps at this link. AnyMemo is in the top tier.

Lingo Quiz is a very good flash card android app. It allows you to memorize anything (languages, facts, etc.) using flash cards. No locks to specific language, you can use any language.
