Looking for Navigation Bar app

ExtremeNerd

I've searched in the Play store but haven't found anything like what I'm looking for.

I'm trying to find an app which gives the navigation bar used on phones like the Galaxy Nexus and (preferably) disables the capacitive buttons on my S3. Since the stock camera is so much better than AOKP, I'd prefer not to have to go for a custom ROM at this time. Has anyone found an app like this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you can do it with just an app (maybe change launcher), but not sure) because Samsung edited ICS to the firmware level so that it will work with the buttons.

Out of curiosity, why bother? You have more screen estate with the buttons, plus it would be redundant, which leads me to ask why the SIII and not the One X if you wanted the screen buttons.

I've suggested that the Apex developer includes it in his next release. We'll see how the community likes the idea. There are plenty of ways to change what the keys are mapped to with root access, such as using the home button specifically for S Voice. I've done that all before on the MT4G.

Personally, I don't like the huge screen. It's awkward to me and I have a bad habit of accidentally pressing the back button in landscape mode. I would gladly give up the handful of pixels for my convenience.

T-Mobile doesn't offer the One X, just the inferior One S. The S3 is better in every aspect except for the screen, which I've heard is personal preference. Basically, it's one more way to customize the phone to be perfect for me, which is why I love Android.

The One S is technically not inferior to the One X except in terms of storage. The Snapdragon S4 dual core in it outperforms the Tegra 3 in the One X in every single benchmark test. Granted that it may not be the best in terms of available memory, but the dual core Krait it uses is the same dual core Krait as some versions of the US S3 uses (I think T-mobile SIII has dual core Krait instead of quad core Exynos).

There is a difference between remapping keys and changing how the interface behaves IMO. Because those three keys should be running on a level deeper than an app since it overrides the full screen performance of other apps, being at the bottom always visible.
