Looking for new carrier

I am planning to leave Verizon soon and was wondering how the coverage for 4g or even 3g performance is with sprint? They have gotten a few nice 4g phones lately but dont know anyone who uses them. I may have just answered my own question lol but some feedback would be appreciated by anyone who uses or used them. Oh and I'm near a major city if that helps at all

My sister, brother and his boys all have Sprint and all like the service, my brothers EVO Shift just got a update which opened up WiFi Hotspot so now it is active on his phone for free, never knew Sprint did that but they did it on his.
I use Virgin Mobile which is a Sprint MVNO, Also like the service though some of their phones are lacking, they are working on getting better phones in so all in all it's good.

Over all I would recommend them. What kind of phone were you looking at?

You need to check with people in areas where coverage matters to you. General coverage discussions are fairly pointless. Coverage isn't uniform and guaranteed. Every carrier has coverage holes.

I just moved over to Virgin Mobil from Sprint after 20+ years with them, mainly because I could put the wife and I on a 300 minute, unlimited Text, and internet for the same price we paid for two phone's and texting on only one phone, otherwise just basic phone use. I retired recently and the wife just decided that maybe she just could learn how to text. Have three grandsons, and other relatives who text so changing saves a lot. The network is Sprint anyway, and Vmobil is a daughter company to Sprint. Seemed flawless porting our numbers and the customer service people were great at both sprint and VM.

I am about 12 miles outside of Chicago and with Verizon I get 4g almost constant. Sprint so far has been iffy with their 3g and 4g is 1 or two bars at best. Tried Motorola"s Photon and didnt care for it at all. I am now trying the HTC Evo3D which is a great phone but the coverage remains sketchy and the phone has a few glitches. Its fast on both 3 and 4g do to the duel core but to many problems with reception. I have heard they are growing and service will be improving yet I am not sure I want to chance it at this point. May stick it out with Verizon and see if the Droid x2 works out. No 4g but duel core and gingerbread help make up a little I suppose. I have 30 days to decide with Sprint so we'll see.. Thanks everyone:)
