Looking for recommendations on a new phone

After seeing some of the technical and astute replies here, I thought it would be a good idea for me to list what I am looking for by specs.I was thinking of posting this as a new post in android lounge, but then decided against it.

My Dream Phone

1: Large screen (At least 5.7 '')
2: 4-8 GB RAM minimum with a microSD Memory Card Slot
3: Turbo Charge (Fast charge) capabilities
4: Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 Chipset or comparable
5: 12MP, f.1.7 camera or better with bangles and jingles
6: Under $700
7: Able to be used with MetroPCS
8: 3200 mAh or better. (This was the achilles Heel for the MXPE
9: Ability to remove all bloatware without a lot of hassle
10: Customizable voice activation, so I can say something other than "Hi Bixby" all day long.

I am going to use one of the comparison sites like GSMarena or Phonearena to enter the specs and find phones that match or come close. Maybe that will help

Thanks again you guys. I now it's not like having a baby or anything, but damm. $700 is still a lot of money and I don't want to have buyers remorse.

It looks like after further consideration that I will be going with a Xiaomi phone. Either the Mi Mix 2, or the Mi 6. The specs are great, and the phones a little cheaper, and with ADB, I can remove all the bloatware without rooting the phone, (I thought that was soooo 2010, like when I had a Galaxy 3) and the screen for the mix is huge, and battery life good. There are a ton of reviews that show heads up comparisons between the Galaxy S8 and the Xiaomi Mi 6 or Mix 2.

Haven't entirely settled on the model, either a Mi 6 or a Mi Mix 2.

However, I don't really know much about the efficiency of ordering chinese phones from other sites like Amazon, or Alibaba.
I mean the price is great, but are they reliable?

Amazon is in the US, Alibaba is in China. So for you I do think you'd be better off buying from Amazon. I know quite a few people with Xiaomi phones, and they always seem to be reliable for them, and Xiaomi phones are very popular here in China. I've tried the Mix 2 at dealers, and I do think it is a nice phone.
 
After reading reviews, and looking at specs, and asking people what they thought, I pulled the trigger on a Xiaomi Mix 2 today and I will get it in the mail by tuesday, and presumably, start posting on the Xiaomi Mix 2 board.

I myself will be changing devices soon, and I will look at the OnePlus 5T, so far what I have read and been told looks very promising. I'm looking at the 128GB unit myself. I was getting ready to buy another Lenovo as I love the active display notifications, but OnePlus looks really promising to me. Any other OnePlus owners have any reason why I should not pull the trigger ??

Umm, No Sdcard slot..?? I don't own one but a buddy has the OP5 and when it went down, he was S.O.L. concerning recovering data.. He loved it at first and now he's howling like banshee, Lol

Because it's already not available?

The OnePlus 6 is going to be announced very shortly.

(As for lack of SD, I'll second Luna's comments - having a removable card does not make the data safe, and SD cards fail as well. Backups are essential regardless).

Only backup? No. I have flashdrives and spare HDDs for that. No sdcard also means No Options.. and I certainly prefer the option due to ease of data transport. While not everyone cares about an sdcard, it's a deal-breaker for many..

Exactly, I keep everything backed up twice in 2 different locations, :)
 
As a long time Moto user I recently switched to the Pixel 2, mostly for the increased RAM (every little bit helps) and the amazing camera. I liked the size of the 2 over the XL and the price. The OnePlus would have been my first choice but my carrier hasn't even heard of them! LOL

I do miss my Droid Turbo but I just dropped it too many times. It was only 3 1/2 years old and served me well, but I am LOVING this new camera!
 
I'm still leaning towards it, but I can still be swayed, but for now it is the one, I'll wait a few weeks anyways.
