Looking for simple, but secure, note-taking app

I don't need anything fancy, just straight text. Not even handwriting as any hand-writtten notes I take are pretty much unreadable. Being able to organize them in folders would be great but not essential-I don't carry hundreds of notes around with me. But one I do carry around is a 'note' containing my usernames & passwords-so I need the ability to password protect certain notes.

I suppose I could use MS Word for this but it seems overkill-besides, I haven't found an app yet that will let me create a password-protected document on my phone. (Not an absolutely necessary feature, but none have also mentioned being able to edit them. Read them, sure-but edit & save? Maybe the authors think that's obvious-but I've learned from bitter experience that if they don't mention an ability then it's likely that it's not there.)

I tried Evernote but the authors are too focused on sharing-I don't want to store my notes online whether in my Google account or in Evernote's. It appears the Premium version would let me keep them locally and I'd need it for password protection but it's too expensive. I'm basically opposed to 'rent-an-app' approaches. I want something I can buy & then it's mine forever.

Any suggestions? thanks.

I use the simple Google Keep for notes and KeePassDroid for my passwords :)

Note, KeePassDroid's data base file on the phone's SD card is also usable on the PC version of KeePass or on its mobile PC version on a USB thumb drive.

Thanks. I think Note Everything Pro will do what I want. In testing the free version I only found 2 shortcomings. 1 was getting stuck in Play store when I checked the price of the Pro version. (For a while every time I opened Note Everything I wound up in the Play store. Don't remember how I got that fixed but I did.) Don't think that'll be a long term problem as I see no reason to go into Play store again from Note Everything. Not even for the upgrade-after that experience I'll uninstall the free version & install the Pro version directly before I'll go back into Play store from the app. The other problem is longer term, but minor. Why is there no Save or Done button in the note? Really, is it intuitive to use the Back button to save it? I don't think so-but I can get used to doing so, I guess.

As for a password keeper, I just don't like having a separate app for it. As long as the password protection in Note Everything is good (it's reported so but it's only in the Pro version so I haven't tried it myself yet) I don't think I need yet another app that I need to learn & maintain. Thanks.

The advantage to some dedicated password management apps, is that it'll put the username and password in the clipboard on demand. So no matter what app you're in, you can just paste on-the-fly. Most of the work is already done for you.

I use hovernote for the same reasons the OP expressed. It can share and export, but there's also the option to just store it to SD. It also has the advantage of being a "floating" app, so you can position it over something else you want to copy info from.

@Artaxerxes: That's what I *don't* want an app to do. I've tried it and it's very convenient. Too much so for me. It works well until it doesn't & then you no longer know what your username/password is. If I have to enter it manually (the password at least) then I have a much better chance of remembering it-which means I don't even need to open another app.
