Root Looking for some help and direction.

I'd like to try Apex 1.3 on my Droid X but I'm running version 2.3.151. I know that Apex requires either the leak or official OTA but I'd like to know my best and safest route.
I'd like some good instruction on updating to the OTA, keeping root or re-rooting after the update. Installation of the customer recovery and flashing the ROM.

I'm coming over from an Incredible to the Droid X and am used to having an S-OFF feature that allowed me to just freely flash ROM's. So reading all this news on SBF's and multiple recovery's is a bit much. I'd just like to find some consolidated documentation on the whole process.

Id say your best bet is to use the 2.32.3 update.zip. Get it from the tbh app or mydroidworld.. Downld it, reboot into clockwork recovery, format system then mount system. Then go to downloads and install the file.. (nothing changed on my phone after, ie.. still had root etc.) Once your done install apex per fabs instructions. It appears you can use apex off .32.3..

Make sure you use the update.zip and not the sbf. The sbf wont work because your bootloader needs to be 30.03 or 30.04 which yours is not.. Id give you links but im doing this from my phone.. Sorry.

What I did was sbf back to ota 2.2 then I installed update thru vzw after that I wiped data and cache followed by rooting using z4 with bootstrap, and lastly I downloaded and installed apex 1.3. Total time took me 1 hour which includes setting my screens and apps the way i like them

Agree on going with TBH app update.zip

Also look for Rooler's guide here on one of these threads. Has step by step instructions.

Also use z4Root to root after update which can be found by searching. Strangely I DID NOT lose root myself going to .320

Thanks everyone for the help. I just installed Apex 1.3 and it's AWESOME!!!!
I went the .320 route and it was very easy. I'm so glad that I got the Droid X, my Incredible was great but the Droid X is just flippin fantastic with it's awesome screen and fantastic battery life! This just makes it a better experience.
