Looking for tutorial on gesture typing with Nexus 4

Just yesterday discovered the Gesture Typing feature on my Nexus 4 and I really like it. But despite searches I have not found any tutorial on how to do certain things. The feature is similar to Swype, but I reviewed the Swype tutorials and several commands must be different on the Nexus 4, or perhaps not supported. Three examples:

* error correction - the Swype tutorial says that, to fix a wrong word, tap twice on the word and a list of alternative words will appear. Not so on the Nexus 4. How to fix errors on Nexus 4?

* upper case letters - the Swype tutorial says that, to make a letter upper case, swipe from the letters upwards until the keyboard changes to capital letters. That does not work with the Nexus 4.

* numbers - I did not see a Swype tutorial about this, but how to do a string of numbers (e.g., "2013") on the Nexus 4? Tracing through 2 - 0 - 1 - 3 produced "2/3", not "2013".

Thanks for any info,
b

The lack of certain convenient functions is what made me switch back to swype. To correct words, IIRC long pressing on the word will bring up a "Replace" menu button that will then show you a list of words. I think I had to hit shift before swiping a word to capitalize, not sure if there is an easier way.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe there is no gesture typing with numbers. I cannot figure out how to bring up the Replace button. A long press on a word, or two quick taps, brings up a box that says Paste, with no list of alternate words to choose. I do not see the Swype app in the Play store, did you get it from the Swype website?

The replace menu item only comes up when there are other possibilities for your gesture. It shows up next to "Paste" if you have text on the clipboard. You can double tap or long press on the word to make it show.

Swype is not available in the play store for a lot of reasons probably, but it's easy to get from swype.com. You don't have to register anymore. Just download the installer, and make sure to allow unknown sources in the security settings before running it from your Downloads. If you run into trouble with installation, you may need to uninstall/reinstall the installer.
