Looking to replace Maildroid Pro

Hi maildroiddev,

I know this is off topic from the thread, but I've been having difficulty getting a response, so I'm trying this here. About 3 weeks ago, I sent an email about how I can't use the maildroid app to send emails. I sent a follow-up last week. Here is the full body of the email.

"Hello,

For the past couple of weeks, I've been getting an error every time I try to send an email using the maildroid app. I use the app for my aol account. My last successful sent email was 3/21. The first time I started seeing errors was on 3/26.

Last night, I successfully sent an email from my aol account using my computer, but this morning, I tried again to send an email using maildroid and it still failed. So I know it's a problem with the app.

I generated a bug report. I of course couldn't send it using maildroid. But fortunately, I was able to save it and attach it to this email, using my other, gmail account (and through the gmail app).

According to the maildroid app, my current version is 4.91.

Throughout all of this, I'm still able to receive emails, search my folders, etc. Only thing that seems to not work is sending emails.

Please look into this, and let me know if you can resolve the problem.

Thanks."

The auto-reply says to check your online forum, but I get an error whenever I click on it.

I love the app, and I hope to keep using it. I know you're busy, but it's been a long time already for me not to be able to send emails using the app. Please let me know if you can help.
Hi DaveF23,
I'm not the author of Maildroid, just a long time user of Maildroid Pro. Support used to be excellent, but things have changed in the last 6 months. Unfortunately, AFAIK, the author has been busy with other things and has lost interest in supporting Maildroid. I've had problems also. He did respond to my email saying he would look into my problem. But no other communication in over a month. The only suggestion I can make is to check your login information for AOL. Something is probably off, so try re-entering your information by adding AOL all over using Maildroid's setup. I had issues with my Gmail account and that's how I fixed it. I can't guarantee this will work, but its a starting point if you want to try it. Also, you may have better luck getting help if you sign up to be a beta tester for Maildroid. Good luck

Thanks, markdoc. I'm kind of a novice at this; was trying to respond to maildroiddev's comment, not particularly your thread. But thanks for the background and the advice, it's much appreciated. Everything else seems to work fine, so I don't think it's a login issue. But it certainly sounds like "starting over" is worth a shot. Thanks!

I was able to fix the problem. It was similar to what you suggested. I went to manage my account, and it asked me to re-enter my credentials. Once I went through that, I was able to send emails over again.

Thanks for your help, markdoc!

Anyone know of a way to have mail drops (non pro) to be able to open attachments some attachments seems to be blank so maildroid can't see that's it's a PDF or whatever you're the file is. Thanks in advance I just can't figure it out it's so strange.

I do believe that there must be a default app associated with the file type for maildroid to see it, otherwise it doesn't know what to do with it.

It's not that, I get the same email on my phone I use a and different program, I see the attachment with my no problem but my wife sees is a file with no name and no extension is really weird

Actually that sounds like it's exactly the issue. It's not really a function of the email client. Ask your wife to install the acrobat app from the play store and then see if that file magically becomes available to her.

Does she have it set to automatically download the attachment? If not, I'd expect tapping on it to prompt for a download, so it's probably not that, but that's the other thing that occurred to me.

Hi, everyone.

I've been reading that MaildroidPro doesn't work with Android 10, and I'm wondering what others have/are experiencing with it. I'm about to upgrade to Android 10 but if it will kill Maildroid for me, I may have to rethink it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm on 10, and Maildroid still works for me. I'm only using it to access my RoadRunner account, and it's the only one that will properly sync with it.

That being said, others have indicated issues with theirs.

Hmmm... I'm currently on Android 9 and I use 5 different Gmail IMAP accounts without any problems. I'm leery of upgrading and THEN needing to go on the hunt desperately rather than planning for the future.

I really appreciate the information! It does give me more confidence that it will work fine for me, but I'm not going to pull the proverbial trigger just yet.
