Lookong for a good at&t android smartphone

If the Atrix came off poorly, it wouldn't have been voted best new smartphone at CES. Try again. LOL.

It got voted best new smartphone for it's potential, and it's docking abilities.

But, when you think about it, how much will you actually be using those docking abilities?

I wont.

I have a well spec'd laptop that's thin, light and 14". I don't need a "webtop" to do a poor job of what my laptop can do. Once more, I don't need, use or have space for a desktop.

And, as just a phone, the Motoblur UI is crap, and I'm not planning on rooting if I don't have to. If it was gingerbread, I'd be more interested, but it's not.

As for coming off poorly, watch all the hands on vids. The thing lags like crazy.

"witty tag line with LoL at the end"

I saw no lag anywhere.. try once more.

Motoblur being crap is a matter of opinion. Gingerbread will come along soon enough.

HTC hasn't pushed the envelope. Plain and simple.

To be fair I have seen both videos with and videos without. Also to some people they don't care about the envelope. I mean as of right now my friend you have the bravo so when you bought it it wasn't the best device out. In the end the HTC might be the best for some while others such as yourself and possibly me might go atrix. That's why there are more than one kind of phone

Again, Motoblur = pretty poor, and the webtop/desktop features are impractical to anyone who has a nice laptop/desktop.

the Atrix has no usability, only whopping specs.

Beyond that, it's come off very poorly in all of its hands on videos.

I have no interest in it unless it blows me away in hand. The inspire is the device right now.

1. Same could be said about any UI. It's all about preference.

2. Agreed, the webtop/desktop feature is a bit impractical but it's just an extra add-on feature and not one of its main selling points. At least not for me it isn't, but it's still nice to have.

3. No usability? You sure about that? 1GB RAM is plenty usability.

4. If all products were judged based on a handful of videos, then everything would be rated poor.

5. You might not have interest but it didn't win best in class for nothing.

Exactly. It's nice to say catch phrases like "push the envelope", but what HTC has done is built an extremely well made, quality phone that delivers one of, if not the best user experience you can get right now on an android phone.

It isn't dual core, but seeing as the single core 1ghz processors still haven't been used to their maximum potential, I'm not too worried.

I will say this it win best in class because it has a few firsts. Not because they have used it and reviewed it and loved it

To clarify about the webtop/desktop feature, it's not what drew me to the Atrix. I'm more interested in what's under the hood than the aesthetic appearances or UI overlays. The fun with Android is that I can change whatever I want. I have rooted plenty a devices and locked bootloader or not, this will get cracked as well.

I guarantee months from now people will be rocking a Vanilla UI on the Atrix or some other equivalent. And when newer phones drop this thing will still be beautifully spec'd to keep up with the upstarts.

lol

I use my captivate for hours at a time without lag..

Other people experience it a bit more frequently.. careful with assumptions.

I bought the Bravo a few days ago to hold me over until the Matrix comes. I was using an iPhone 4 before that.

lol..

isn't atrix coming out with 2.1?

meaning it can use 256 mb of ram out of 1 gig...

I'm sure it will get updated sooner or later.

I think even 2.2 only allows 512..

I am sure if moto does bother to update it.. they will eventually get the full gig of ram out of it.

I am not trying to persuade anyone away.. but, it would be a good idea to figure out the ins and outs first.

Actually I've read thats one reason people want 2.2 for capt.. limited ram unlocked to double..

Didn't even think about that. Very good point if that's true.

Atrix is arriving with the final version of froyo to be updated to gingerbread, when we dont know. Although you do raise a good point about the ram issue

You know, it's very easy to actually go to AT&T's product page and find all the specs for the ATRIX -- the are on the Motorola website as well.

It would have taken you two seconds to see that it ships with Android 2.2.1

you ever wonder why these two the HTC and Atrix arent launching with gingerbread, i know the samsung will but thats because they had gingerbread the longest. You would think that would have extended the ooos and ahhs plus added something that the other carriers didnt have

I have the bravo, and was so impressed with it that I bought another one for my wife. It's the perfect phone as far as I'm concerned.

anybody that complains about a 3MP camera on a phone needs to get a life, or a real camera

I'm not sure what the whining is all about concerning motoblur. you can customize anything you want, my phone has no lag as long as I don't try to have 1000 apps running all at the same time, and every feature (like GPS) works like it should.

I dunno if the Samsung will either. Everything mentioned at CES said it was going to have 2.2 as well.

Well I just read the other day i believe it was engadget but i could be wrong that they will now release it with gingerbread thats why there isnt even a link for it on ATT website, once you go to the 4G phones and click on the infuse it goes to a generic android on ATT page.

Hey wait, someone brought up something that I was unaware of.
Android 2.2 can only use 512 MB of RAM? Why is that?
Does that mean that some phones with more RAM, its just being wasted?

Also, can someone edit the title of this thread and fix that typo? It wont let me.
