Looks like 2.3.3 update is re-opened again

it is 01:18 am of 10-25-2011 and I just finished updating my shine plus.

this is my first time with gingerbread on shine plus unlike some of us here,

so i will have to see if the pre-mentioned issues still exists or fixed.

by the way,

software upgrade software on pc must've downloaded gingerbread image somewhere, does anyone know the path?
 
some things i've noticed since the update

1. apps 2 sd seems to be working

2. no auto-bringtness. not even with auto brightness app. so i am guessing the sensor is not working well.

3. i spotted some flickers or some sort of remaining images on the screen whenever i touch the screen.

4. benchmark score went down. it was 1330 with 2.1, but went down to 1270 with 2.3. i thought gingerbread was supposed to work a lot better than 2.1, but guess i was wrong.

will look into in more as i spend some time with this thing...

Hi,

Can you confirm in about phone what your version is? Is it still v20a?

Also, for auto brightness, that's normal... They deactivated auto brightness in the framework. I'll re-enable it if I can. Probably like you said they had issues with the sensor and didn't wanna bother fixing it.

As for the screen isssue you mention, I got none of that with the old build.

As for your answer where the image is stored, it should be in a temp folder somewhere but it's hard to say. Possibly in %TEMP%

Then they must've just added a procedure to wipe 2-3 things more in the upgrade... So the ROM is the same. Which means screen freeze is probably due to lingering 2.1 files if it doesn't happen anymore with this version... Bluetooth as mentionned is just because they keep old 2.1 configs in your data folder.

Maybe you can check if it's the same ROM through the kernel version

whenever i scroll the screen up and down,
something like a thin layer moves along with my finger movement
and it disappears when the scrolling ends

I get that too. I think it is an effect, not a bug. It's like a yellow burst on each edge?

Personally, I don't think it's a bug. I think it's some sort of overdrive on the screen.

However, if it IS an effect, they were concentrating their time and energy on the most useless thing, i should say. we have tons of bugs being reported here already! ;-(
 
it seems like screen issue still exists.

my phone was turned on, and somehow screen did not come back on

so i had to take out battery and re-start it.

Haven't had the issue yet on my girlfriend's phone. Then again, I haven't been running the stock ROM on her phone, only my custom 2.3.3 ROM which I modded alot of things on...

How did you get a benchmark of 1330. I get 404 max with quadrand standard. What benchmark application were you using?
