Help Loose USB port

Got my 5X yesterday. It's a great phone, love the fingerprint scanner, but it has one big problem: The USB-C cable doesn't fit snugly into the charging port. It's loose, it slips out if I just hold the phone up, and even worse if I wiggle the cord a little bit it stops (or starts) charging. Last night I plugged it into the charger, this morning it hadn't charged a bit and even though the plug was in the socket the battery indicator didn't have the "charging" lightning bolt in it. So I wiggled the cord a bit, it started charging, then I had to let it sit a while before it had enough charge to use.

Does anybody else have this problem? I'll have to return this phone, but I wonder if this is a common problem or if I just got a phone with a defective charging port (or maybe I got a defective USB-C cable, I don't have any others to test with).

If only this had wireless charging I wouldn't care, I still have two charging pucks from my Nexus 5 that I guess I'll have to give away.

I'd contact Google about it (providing you bought it through the Google Store), possibly request a replacement. If it is already a problem, it is only going to get worse as the phone gets older.

Totally opposite with my 5x. I struggle to unplug the USB-C cable. I also have an aftermarket cable too and it's just as hard to get it out as the OEM cable.

Dumb question, wmshub but are you sure you pushed it in far enough? There ought to be a distinct click when it's in place. As Mr Deucie says, it's actually quite stiff getting the cable in and out initially.

wmshub, I think the problem is your not plugging it in all the way. I noticed the same thing with the headphone jack. You have to really push it in until you hear a click. My problem is it is really difficult to get either the charging cable or headphones out again. I have to really tug on it hard enough to where I am afraid that the phone will go flying out of my hands if I am not careful. I'm surprised other people are not complaining as it seems like such a simple thing to get wrong.

Yup, thanks everybody! It wasn't too loose, it was too tight; when I shoved really hard, it suddenly popped, and then it was in firmly (very firmly) and connected well. Without the advice I wouldn't have pushed so hard, I was worried I would break the phone it takes so much force to get the cable all the way in. I assume it'll loosen up a bit with time.

So glad I don't need to send it back!

Man, walked over to my desk this morning to shut off my morning alarm and wanted to bring the phone back to my nightstand, but could not get it unplugged in my morning daze. I gave up and went back to bed without it.
