Losing 4G?

Something I'm noticing alot is that I'm losing 4G alot with the Razr...I've had the Bionic, Charge, and Thunderbolt and have seen my phone on 3G so much fighting for a 4G signal.

I'm in the same areas as before, and never experienced this much of a dropped 4G signal. And it really seems to drop while in doors alot...as in bouncing back and fourth between 3G and 4G regularly.

Anyone else experiencing this?

In-doors it happens more often, yes. It also depends where I am. At the gym I get 4G with no issue, at home it can cycle. Outdoors I never lose 4G.

I wonder if that is a tower/tech issue or if it's a 1st Generation LTE radio issue or a combo of both.

As long as I'm not losing data I'm ok with it.

I'm seeing the same thing but I'm also getting no data. Seems like the same issue with the bionic. But at work I get steady 4g. I'd say its where I live but my droid charge which is a work phone gets consistent 4g at home

This is one thing the Rezound is apparently better with. Picking up 4g in lower signal and fringe areas.

Mobiletechreview points out the Rez is the best of any current 4g device in that regard.

Perhaps this is a way VZW is keeping the heat down less than the Rez? Less watt output of the 4g radio...

Gentleman ....thanks for the input!

I honestly think it may be a Motorola/Razr thing! Because my dad is right next to me and has had solid 4G all day! Says he never even sees 3G on his phone.

The Razr does seem to have less range for 4G as the Bionic and especially the Rezound. That said, 3G on the Razr seems tops.

Theory why the 4G seems weaker is Moto turned the watts down to conserve some power and reduce heat. This would also explain why the Bionic and especially the Rezound seem to run warmer/hotter in 4G.

It fits folks. Could be BS, but it fits. Razr runs cooler in 4G mode, but apparently less range. Rezound runs hotter and apparently more range. Both are 45nm LTE, so you can not get something for nothing. Better range probably equals hotter running chip.

Update

Testing again shows similar 4G range to Rezound. Will need to bite the bullet and get a Rez for myself, rather than bits and pieces from friend's and demo units.
