Root Loss of service strangeness

Never owned a phone that reverted to February 1980 at 7am when it lost service. Whats up with this phone and why does it revert to such an old time reference? Thats ridiculous.
 
I immediatetly thought of DOS system time which begins in January 1980, but I have no idea why it would revert to February.
 
and no option to manually set your own date and time in this piece of trash. no apps i can find to do that on play store. unreal. not sure if apps are dependent on time and date,but if many are i can see this phone being useless to an offline app user if they ever terminate service. basically would make it useless.

We just need a custom rom
 
If you go in and browse the phone with a root browser, most of the files are dated 1980 and I have a few dated 1969

Happened to my OV before. Nothing works either, it confuses the system.
 
wonder if its possible to add support to ANY rom we may get on this beast so we can reset the time ourselves. but to be honest,as dead as the elite community is,im not sure if even that will happen.
