Help Loss of signal

Newbie
I have had the samsung Y phone for only a couple weeks now and becoming more dispondent with it. Yet again today I have have had no signal for sending or recieving messages or calls, this happens two or three times a week. Getting a bit sick now. I am with O2 and they have great coverage here unlike some companies.
I have been onto the phone to O2 and everthing shows as working ok at their end. So now I am guessing its the phone. I have checked for updates and it says everything is up to date. So the next step is to take it back to the shop and go from there.
My question really is "does anyone have a solution to the problem". Maybe its happened to yourself and you got it working ok. Please let me know before I loose my temper with it. Thanks everyone.

Hi jef, I have just had it for a couple weeks and dont believe it is a fault because of the time I have had it. Why should I change the sim card. I only have one and to do a factory reset will just cause me work having to load my things back in. Thanks for your advice but on this occation I will leave it.

Having the same issues as off last week. Phones worked fine since Jan, now signal drop at random for 2/3 minutes then up to full again or if I restart phone.
