My friend has a Samsung Galaxy S through AT&T and he has had it only a few months. The other night, he had the phone connected to the computer. Before going to bed, he disconnected the phone and plugged it in to the bedside charger for the night. When he awoke the next morning, all app icons had disappeared from the home screen. When he presses the app button at the bottom of the screen, he gets the spinning wheel that never goes away until he presses the home button. We were able to go into settings to see if something needed to be updated. There are two selections in the update screen. One option says check for updates; when selected, there is a message stating that the AT&T server could not connect. The other option says Resume Update; when this option is selected, a message comes up stating "no firmware." The firmware version is 2.2. Any thoughts? His phone is not rooted.
