Help Lost contact numbers

Could anyone tell me why my galaxy s6 has lost more than half of my contact details and phone numbers even though they were there a couple of days ago? Thanks
 
Maybe a sync issue? Have you checked your contacts are still set to sync? Have you tried a reboot? Actually do you have you contacts set to save to your Gmail account in the first place ?

If you do you could always remove your Google account and then add it in once more and see if your contacts come back?
