Root lost data connectivity / cm7 / radio.img

Hey how's it going.

Short story:
No data connectivity on Optimus M. I can make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and get on wi-fi, but I don't have data connectivity thru Metro PCS.

Long story:
I was playing around with root4z or whatever it's called. I immedately partially accidentally deleted all apps, including essential ones, bricking my phone.
I followed steps to get it working again.
I had zeroed out my MEID, ESN?, and phone #.
I followed instructions to fix that. They didn't work all the way. (I had changed my MIN to something it wasn't supposed to be).
I didn't pay my bill so I wasn't sure if my phone was working.
In the meantime, before paying my bill, I flashed RomZeroFinal successfully.
I paid my bill and my phone wasn't working with Metro PCS.
I called Metro PCS. A very nice lady helped me through a programming menu to restore my service.
Great. I got a sweet rom, my phone is badass, plus it works (always a plus).
So I decide to try Cyanogenmod 7 with Gingerbread for Optimus M. I had a few problems getting it to work, but then it worked (mostly... It was buggy as hell, would not recommend until a better version is released).
The actual problem
I noticed that I had no data connectivity through Metro PCS. My wi-fi works fine.
I flashed back to RomZeroFinal, mostly successfully. When I was flashing, it said, "Updating........ ohno..." so I thought it didn't work correctly (which it probably didn't) but as far as I can tell it works fine.
Updated to the latest PRL via *228.
I still have no data connectivity through Metro PCS

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I was reading a possible fix was flashing a new radio.img.
Is there a specific radio.img for Optimus M or is radio.img a universal thing? I read that screwing up a radio.img flash could really mess up the phone, so I thought I'd ask before I did something stupid (a lifelong problem I have been blessed with).

I am going to try to call Metro PCS later when I can use my friend's phone to see if they can fix it.
 
You sound like you have a handle on things, so don't be offended when I ask the following stupid question.
Go to Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks.
Are both options checked?
And, change System select to Automatic.

Also. Turn off WiFi then Settings>About Phone>Status
Network?
Mobile network type?
Service state?
Roaming?
Mobile Network State?
 
No offense taken. I just tried that, rebooted, still have the same problem.

Sometimes it is the simple things though. I wish it was in this case. CSB time: My friend was all like, "man you gotta fix my laptop, I can't get on the wifi or anything!" So I start looking at it, imagining all the possible things that could go wrong, and I think, hold on a second... Look on the keyboard, see the wifi on/off key. Press it. Voila. I thought it was poorly designed because all the Function keys were only accessible by holding Fn+key. In this case the wifi key was shared with F2. /csb

Yeah anyway, shizzle's still not working.
 
I don't think it has anything to do with root/custom rom because i'm using my stock Froyo Optimus M and i lost data connection a couple hours ago. I think this is a MetroPCS's network problem!
 
lol yeah i just called metro and they said the data.was out... lol. coincidence their data went out around the time when i flashed my phone.

anyway they said it would be a couple hours. i have a bad feeling that i did actually bork my data connection... we'll find out.

They said it would take a couple hours last time there was an outage and it took a day or two! Let's hope it actually is a couple hours and not a couple day. I can't live without MetroPCS super fast network:p:p:p lol
 
who knows, maybe they're bring 3G data to our devices and took the data services down to launch they new server! :rolleyes::p that's what i wish will happen :p:p
 
Mine went out as well...about 12 PST

Its back on as of 5:50pm

I almost thought the same, as I flashed back and forth between CM7 and my nandroid backups. Glad to know i didn't screw it up, it was Metro

still cant get data 815pm wpb area

unable to data 530am

still does not work for me... sunday 1230pm.

btw my gps works
 
Well, everyone I know with MetroPCS now has their data back. Apparently when I flashed to CM7, it screwed up my data. I can make and receive phone calls and texts (can't seem to do MMS). I can get on wi-fi. Just no MetroPCS data connection.

How do I fix this?

I will call MetroPCS when I have access to another phone and see how they help me, but in the meantime, suggestions greatly appreciated.

lol I also was missing 1x for HOURS on end for a chunk of Friday the 17th. Sorry to hear your problem isn't as easy as that though, sigmadex...

Yeah, I called up MetroPCS, and unfortunately since I had CM7 GB I was unable to get to the service menu. I think I pissed the guy off. He's trying to help me and when I tell him I can't get to the menu, he says, "Did you by any chance flash a custom ROM?"...."Maybe..." "Yeah you're going to need to flash back to get to the service menu." "Okay, thanks. I'll call back later." [Really fast and irritated-sounding]"Thank you for calling MetroPCS technical support my name is xxxxxx have a great day."

So I can't find the firmware .cab for Optimus M. It doesn't seem to be on LG's website anymore. I have it on another laptop but I can't get to it right away.

Hopefully doing LGNPST recovery will fix it.

If I can get it figured out without doing that, it would be awesome as well.

Hey my status of my phone says its not roaming i have the mobile network option checked and stuff and mobile network state is disconnected. I have everything else i got zero's out and i updated my phone to 2.2.2 and i have the lastest prl
