Hi. I have Sony Xperia X10 mobile..Last night i got the software update msg from anroid 2.1 to 2.3 and i updated the same. Before update i have taken backup in Memory card...But after update i was not able to see the my old msg and contacts..also after update the back and restore folder is not showing in Menu...Can u pls tell me how i can get my old msgs and contacts and also how can i get the backup folder in phone....
 
I also have the same problem. I made a back up. The previous thre software updates there was no issue. The back up application seems to have disappeared and therefore I cannot restore anything. 10 months of applications and data lost. Not very impressed with Sony.
 
Does anyone know where the old Backup and REstore application is located or if there is Android 2.3 version that is compatible? If I can downloaded it I may be able to save my data.
 
I found the old Back up Tool to down load at m.sonyericsson.com/backup. It down loads the .apk file. Select it and it asks to install. Select install and then it promptly fails :-(

can't beleive SE never provided and upgrade path without an app and data migration. That is just rubbish.
 
Finally Finished re-connecting all my apps. Swype was the last. Lost that one completely as you can only download from the Swype web site.
 
Tell me about it. Spent half a day just getting the bloddy phonebook back (the SE sync feature wouldnt cooperate either) + all the apps that werent reinstalled automaticaly via Backup and restore.

Spent the other half browsing the new features that Gingerbread brings. :)


All in all, a very productive Sunday!
