Lost Phone

I was using "Where's My Droid" for some time now. It recently just won't work anymore.
Any suggestions on a replacement that you don't need a second phone to send messages to the phone? Something like "where's" that had a place to log into from a laptop or desktop.

Check out Android Device Manager. It's included in all Android phones by default and does exactly what you're asking for. Find it in the Google Settings app in the app drawer.

Well, that would be a great idea if it would work. That app can find my phone on my phone, which does not do much good when the phone is lost. But does nothing when attempting to ring the phone or locate it from my laptop. That is why I went with "where's."

Android Device Manager can locate your phone, ring it, lock it, or wipe it completely using any computer or mobile device with a browser. Free, effective and simple to use. Never failed on any of several devices or computers.

.....Except mine. So what can be wrong that causes it to not work?

Well it needs a working data connection to work. Does your phone have one at the moment of testing?
Yes it does. I have spent over an hour this morning going over and over all the information on getting Device Manager to work. Problems, FAQ, etc. and it just does not add up as to why this program is not working. Find the phone from the phone works. Ring the phone from the phone works. Try both from "android.com/devicemanager" on the laptop=nothing. It shows my phone, but can not ring it. The USA map shows, but never changes to my phones location after clicking on the locate icon. Just will not work. ??????

A big thanks to Digital Controller for the link to Android Lost. Checked it out, installed, and it WORKS. GPS found phone within several feet. All of the commands that I was interested in worked when tested.
I will also check out the other apps that have been listed by others.
.
Still can not understand why the other apps quit working.

Cerberus is what I use. I prefer it to Google since it has SMS commands. Google's solution won't work if the phone doesn't have an internet connection.
I gave that one a try also. Very interesting. Now I have two that work great and need to decide on which one.
The no internet with Google is a problem.

You could check out which is cheaper. Lol. I chose Cerberus because it's a one time payment for 5 devices. Others like Avast and Bitdefender give you yearly billing.
