Help lost video trying to get it back

I have a few pictures and a video that have just disappeared off my phone I also have one video that I emailed to myself and now there is no attachment on the email and I deleted it off my phone I have a zte avid I tried to use dr phone to recover my videos but I cant seem to get past the 2nd step I thought maybe because my phone needed to root but im not sure and don't want to mess any thing else up I really want the video back any ideas please

Did you save those files to the phone's memory or your SD Card?

Did you try searching for them using an external file explorer, such as ES File?

I am not very good when it comes to tec things I think I saved it in both sd and phone do I run the ES File thru my phone or my pc?

ok I tried that and still don't see it
