Love EVO; don't love frustrations

Hi everyone,

I'm a computer tech specializing in home and small business networks. I got the EVO the day it came out last year (obviously a Sprint customer) and have enjoyed it, found it reasonably user-friendly, and am overall highly pleased with it.

I'm also a happy Sprint customer most of the time; their service has been good over the years, and I do have a couple of beefs with them:

  1. They decided to stop free plan service in North and South Dakota and Montana earlier this year. It's an area I travel to often enough that roaming will be expensive. I called about it, but nothing has been changed. Me David, Sprint Goliath. Roaming had not been required until that change. I assume it's a result of Sprint's not being able to find a sub-carrier with the right price point, not the best of service to the end use.
  2. Sprint users pay a $10/month fee for the privilege of using a smart phone. I have a friend who had a number of phones in his account with Sprint, so this started adding up. He called and complained that it was really a breach of contract, but even at elevated support levels could not get it dismissed. He switched to Verizon and iPhone.
I had been, until the Hero, then within one month, the EVO, a faithful Palm user since my first PDA in the mid-90's; as soon as they had smart phones available I got one. My last Palm was the 800W.

I decided to join an Android forum to learn from all you smart people how to use more of the features on my phone and how to use what i know already smarter. I look forward to being of service as well if there's ever an issue I can help with.

Welcome to Android Forums!

I think there will complaints about the service and practices of every carrier. The trick is to find the one that suits your budget and needs best.
