Love Moto-X - help with a few quirks.

Hi all. I've had several android devices and have always gone back to iPhone. Until now. The moto x is perfect for me.

A few quirks though. Please let me know if you have a solution.

1. When connected to my blue tooth portable speaker, if an incoming text or call comes in, speaker volume suddenly goes down to about 1/4 of Max volume. I have to manually raise volume again. Annoying.

2. Not a big deal but it seems like every 3 days the time goes to 24 hour mode (ie: 21 hours, etc.)

3. Biggest complaint is mail app. On my non Gmail mail app specifically. Searching for an email for example "Ryan" takes a terribly long time to yield any results. Sometimes over a minute. Maybe I should try a different mail app.

4. IPhones don't seem to like sharing contacts with the phone. It shows up in Txt as a white square with nothing there when I click.

5. MMS texting from other phones is spotty. If someone sends multiple photos it comes in the form of a very annoying video slide show.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx!

In the status bar, or is this a widget? If it's a widget, it may be a problem with the widget.

You can try K9 mail - it's not beautiful, but it works great when I've tried it (I use the gmail app exclusively myself - I forward all other accounts to GMail, and then set up Gmail to be able to reply from those messages.)

There is also EvoMail or MailDroid, which look good, but which I have not tried.

Shared via email or MMS? Have you tried having it shared the other way?

I haven't tried it myself - but I'll try sending something from my iPad and see what happens.

Yep. It doesn't bother me, so I haven't tried looking for a solution...

The long email search issue and photos coming in as slideshows is an Android thing, not a Moto X thing. It happens for me too on my old Samsung Galaxy S 4g on 2.2. Not excited to hear that it still exists in 4.2.

Hi. Checking in from the Motorola forums and thought I'd weigh in.

Annoying.

Should see improvement after software update that's coming. I'll check back to see if you do.

2. Not a big deal but it seems like every 3 days the time goes to 24 hour mode (ie: 21 hours, etc.)

We think this might result from a rare-but-not-impossible series of accidental touches that can happen when you put the phone in your pocket but the screen is still active. (Starts with hitting the clock in the notification bar.) We have some planned changes to reduce this possibility in a future update.

3. Biggest complaint is mail app. On my non Gmail mail app specifically. Searching for an email for example "Ryan" takes a terribly long time to yield any results. Sometimes over a minute. Maybe I should try a different mail app.

A different mail app might help. In pure Android (like Moto X) search won't work in POP3 and there is no local search, so any connectivity issue can cause search to hang. Try Play Store for a specific app for your provider.

4. IPhones don't seem to like sharing contacts with the phone. It shows up in Txt as a white square with nothing there when I click.

I've seen other reports of weirdness when texting between Android and iPhone. You might want to try and app for this too, like GoSMSPro.

5. MMS texting from other phones is spotty. If someone sends multiple photos it comes in the form of a very annoying video slide show.

Yep. Another stock Android thing that might be solved with a Play Store app.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx!

When I share by email from ios, the phone handles the attachment fine and imports it into contacts. If I get time today I'll try sharing to my phone's sms gateway address and see what happens from the messaging app when it's received. For now you can ask your iPhone friends to share contacts to your email address though. Or use bump or something....

Long - press the message and choose "download" from the menu. This will put each photo separately into the downloads folder on your phone.
