Loving my S3 after 3 days

Note: that I have only had the phone for 3 days

I too was an iphone user, and have been for years. As well as my whole family, Mom,dad, brother, everybody owns an ipod and an iphone.

I am the first one on the family to own any other smartphone other than the iphone.

Here is what I think,

They are completely different phones, for completely different types of people.
I jailbroke my phone because it bothered me the limitations that I had on my phone. The downside with Jailbreak, is battery life, and Im pretty sure it also f'ed up my brothers Iphone to the point of not turning on at all.

Here is why I love it.

-Easy access to all of my fav apps/settings
Brightness
Airplane mode
Wifi
BT
rotate screen

-Love the way it removes all of my apps with 2 buttons, I dont have to exit one by one. Yes I have OCD like that haha. My phone has to be free of apps at all times. ( I feel like it slows down my phone even tho It might not)

-I live in the basement and I have terrible reception, so I could only dream of being able to turn on airplane mode with 2 clicks before I went to bed. Regardless to say, My iphones battery sucked due to the constant search for signal that would never come to my phone.
BT, same thing, I own a couple of wireless speakers, so I only wished it had an easier way to connect the 2.

I am a huge sports fan, I hated going to the ESPN app just to see my fav teams, with the widget I can see the scores right away.

-Most of the games I like are free. IE: Angry Birds, zenonia, inotia.

-Widgets are a huge plus!!

-Screen has its cons and pros, Its hard for me to scroll down and play with my phone when Im laying in bed, even when Im walking or just holding my phone(maybe it will get better as I will get used to it). I am also not a small person, 6'2 (1.89m)

-Youtube and movies, look amazing on the bigger screen. I am a huge nerd and love E sports watchin Starcraft 2 on my 4S was a pain.

-Play store is a lot friendier than the app store( might just be me, but I like it better)

-I have a google TV, I can connect my phone to my tv wirelessly, and its amazing :)

-Google maps

Honestly other than the size( being a little too big for my pockets/hands). I love the phone. Like a lot of other people I was going to wait for the I5, but since they were out of stock, and they didnt have any big improvements, I decided to give the S3 a shot, and so far its been great.

Keep in mind I am one of those people who love change, I love being able to do new things. I didn't have that with my 4S.

Again like a lot of people said, it is not for everyone.
Keywords, not for everyone.

Overall a great new experience. You have to be willing to take a challenge and learn new things.

PS: If you guys have any cool apps that are a "must" or you think will help me have a better experience on my S3, I am always open for suggestions.

Have had mines for less than a day and loving it. I love that I can root and debloat everything I don't use with the stock rom.

I like Volume Widget. It lets me change the volume profile with a single tap of the screen. I use it to turn off notification sounds when I go to bed while keeping the ringer and alarm on. When I wake up, I turn back on all of the notification sounds.

I find the size of the phone makes typing difficult. I use Thumb Keyboard to change the layout of the keyboard. I usually type in landscape, so it is difficult for me to reach the keys in the centre of the keyboard. Thumb Keyboard has a layout where your keyboard is split to either side of the screen so you won't have to reach as far to hit the keys in the centre of the keyboard.

If you really like customising your phone, give Nova Launcher a try. It allows you to really customise your home screens. You can increase the number of icons on your screen having up to a 7 x 7 grid. I like getting rid of the dock on the bottom of my screen, so I can have an extra row of icons with every home screen.

Love Flipboard, PlayerPro, Swiftkey, Go Launcher, Go Locker , Car Tunes, CamCard & Dropbox..games Rayman Jungle is worth every cent & Welcome!!

Glad to hear you're having a great experience! I'm sure you'll have your days of frustration but as long as you're willing to work through em your possibilities seem endless when compared to the iOS ecosystem.

My guess is that like most people, you'll get used to the size difference and won't want to go back. I went from the original HTC Droid Incredible to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to the GS3 and while it took a few days or weeks to get used to the size increases, now the first thing I think when I see my old DInc or an iphone is that the screen is WAY too small for me.

Happy to hear you're enjoying your phone and welcome to the forums!
