Help Low disk space problem

Hi, I am using Asus fonepad K012, Andoid ver 4.2.2. For the first few months everything was going fine. I had installed some apps of my choice like Skype, VLC, Utorrent, etc but now when I try to install any app it says no space left on device. I tried uninstalling all the apps which I had previously installed but still I get no space left message. I also tried clearing cache of preinstalled apps but that didnt help. Any ideas ? THe only user installed app left on the device is Firefox. I got no apps to uninstall.

I got 2 files on that path named
.thumbdata3-1763508120 (166 bytes)
.thumbdata3--1967290299 (78.2MB)
I have moved both to my PC as backups and created 2 folders with the same names but as you can see the bigger file was only 78.2 MB so I didn't gain much space.

Posted my reply on that other thread by mistake.

Hi

The best app for seeing what is taking space is diskusage (from playstore) - its a graphic view of storage so its easy to identify culprits. I guess you may have to uninstall Firefox to install it. (but maybe not, its only 412kb installed on my phone) Worth a look because the next suggestion is going to be a factory reset! (If you do that, be sure to backup sms, contacts (if local) phone logs, any local pictures etc.

I just did a factory reset. Just after the reset I checked and found majority of internal storage was free but as soon as the apps started updating the internal storage started to fill up.

Hi

Well, that does not look like there is anything wrong, just that your apps and their internally stored data were taking up almost all of your 1.89GB available internal storage. Make sure those apps that can save to removable sd card are doing so.
