Root Low Memory Problem

I begin with my usual rant ,Samsung 551 has very limited Memory(173 MB ,140 MB usable) and slow processor 600Mhz.
After a month almost all of us ran out of memory (except extreme introverts)
I am writing two+ methods

EDIT : These methods have already been covered in other threads and XDA forums.I have just compiled them here in one place.Kudos to the app developers and all those who made it possible.

For method .1
Requirements : Rooted Phone,Manual labour or good memory,Librarian attitude

Titanium back up Method.
A.)Fill your internal memory to brim
B.)Download Titanium backup from market to phone
C.)Back up all installed apps on SD card
D.)Create a list of apps backed up
E.)Copy the list and the backup folder on comp
F.)Delete unnecessary applications and repeat

Advantages : Only rooted phone is required
Increases space .
Backup can be created on computer
Less used apps can be kept safely on comp.

Disadvantages :
App limit.
A pain in neck to create a list.

Method 2.
This method is really good.But a bit complicated and may not work.
Requirements
1.)Rooted Phone
2.)SD card reader (necessary)
3.)Atleast class 4 SD card
4.)Linux distro with gparted (preferable) or Minitool Partion Wizard in windows

Instructions :
A.)Backup the SD card and connect it via SD card reader to computer .(NO , Connecting phone with USB cable WONT do)
B.)delete the partition
i)create an FAT32 primary partition (preferably 85-90 p.c) on your SD card
ii)create an ext2 primary partition in the remaining space (10-15 p.c)
Note : the ext2 partition will hold the extra program space.
C.)Insert the SD card .It should only show the FAT 32 space
D.)Download link2SD app from market

Link2SD allows you to transfer the app,lib,dex files on SD card while creating links to them.You can default it to directly transfer a new app to SD card.Since data files remain on ROM,the app works as good as in ROM,if you have a class 4 and above SD card.It may fail on a lower class or crash completely.
Follow install instructions

Advantages:- Raises the limit of apps almost infinitely
Much better than app 2 SD
Faster than app 2 SD
EDIT 1 :Link2SD has a direct install and link to SD card option

Disadvantages :

Cant back up apps.
May or may not work.
ext2 cant be read in windows nor 2 partition SD cards
One by one the app must be moved.

Method 3
The most effective method ,though more complicate and dangerous .Can seriously affect the ROM .
Requirements:
1.)All things in the Method 2
2.)Knowledge of terminal,adb shell,recovery mode.
3.)It will be nice if you know to flash ROM with odin when things get seriously messed up.
4.)Darktremors app2SD .

Instructions :
A.)Set up the two partitions on SD card as in Method 2.
B.) Rename the Darktremors app2SD file to update.zip
C.)Boot in recovery mode through adb shell or terminal emulator
D.)Click on select update.zip
E.)In terminal emulator after reboot type
type
$su
#df
Here you should see the ext2 parition
#a2sd reinstall
This moves ALL the apps and data files to SD and links them.


Advantages : - one command all SD apps transfer
data files are also moved
one command frees up lot of ROM space


Disadvantages :- Volatile
If the system files are somehow transferred ,then you are done for.
Very Strictly follows the Class 4 SD card rule.Crashes on lower class usage.
Transfers ALL apps to SD ,including launchers and email/sms apps
Very High probability of bricking phone.Be prepared to reinstall ROM atleast once to get the a2sd working.
High chance of app diasppearing or not working properly
SD card life can be shortened .


EDIT :Dont ever use DT app2SD and link 2SD together,they dont work at all.

Just mention the method and how you worked on phone.System apps like Launchers dont work with that method .Whereas system apps like launchers link2sd and DT app2sd can work through SD card.Though SD card failure will be lethal.
btw Link2SD has direct install and link to SD card option.
