Help low memory warning

Cincy73

Newbie
Lg Spectrum is a newer phone, yet my friend said that she is having trouble downloading apps as it is saying low memory cant downlaod app. She does not have a lot on her phone. She has already cleared memory, cache, and moved what she could to her SD Card. Anyone else having this problem? any suggestions?

Something must be going on, I have 215 installed apps and none are on the sd card. Some are as large as 75MB, I have 582MB system free and 743MB internal free.

Try moving mail cache to the sd and delete old text messages.

Menu key -> settings -> application settings -> manage applications

If her internal storage is reading any where close to the 1.3GB full, then she has a serious issue.

From that screen click menu key -> sort by size.

This will tell you what is eating up all the memory if it is truly an issue.

She said she has 4GB internal but can only access 1gb. Does that sound right? She only has 224 mb left.

She's mistaking total memory for storage. Each area of the phone has a partition and each partition does something different. The data partition (where apps and user info is stored) is only 1.3GB even thou the total phone memoery is 4GB. The rest of the space is used for the OS, firmware, and other misc. items.

As to her situation, she has way too much junk on her phone. Tell her to clear off the things she doesn't use weekly, especially any apps over 50MB.

Mine did that when I first got it I only had maye 30 apps on it.
Did a factory reset on it and its been good since. Im not sure what the actual problem was but factory reset fixed it.

My phone did this after freezing the music lilac app. I had to do a reset or wipe data and reinstall a backup.

^ Are you sure? Stores, even Verizon stores, hves been known, I've seen it happen, to stick a returned phone right back into the box and sell them as new.
