Low signal strength at work

My signal strength at work is horrible, I dont really talk on the phone much but my text messages get kicked back constantly. I know I could just buy a signal booster from sprint and I would gladly do that but I dont think IT would like it. what are some options to try and boost my signal. I do have wifi access are there any apps that could use the wifi to boost my signal or something?

I've had the same issue. Turned out it was my sim card, it was too old and it didn't support some of the latest communication protocols used by the wifi AP at the office. My provider gave me a new one and my signal went from 1 bar to full scale :-)

Can you explain this? I don't understand how WiFi and phone signal (as measured by bars) are related.

Wouldn't your office need a picocell or femtocell or cell repeater to increase phone signal? None of those are related to WiFi in any way I know of.

Wouldn't increased WiFi strength be measured by the number of semicircles on the WiFi icon, not the phone signal strength bars?

Thanks!

If you connect to WiFi you still have signal problems? I would think that would resolve the issue.

They aren't.

Don't believe everything you read online

Path's not talking about connection to the internet. He's talking about his connection to the cell tower used to make calls and send/receive text messages. They are two different things.

To Path: Do you use Google Voice? If you do, Google Voice does actually send and receive texts over your internet connection. However, you will still need good signal from the cell towers to make or receive calls.

Here are a couple sites purporting to have all sorts of solutions to boost your signal. Honestly, most of them look like gimmicks, but I haven't tried them myself.

How to Improve Cell Phone Reception - wikiHow

Try turning off 3g, I have to put my phone to 2g in the office then back to 3g at home to get a working signal!
Waiting for someone to come up with a profile on tasker that can do this automatically!

I had to chime in on this old thread,I tried to explain that to my neighbor. He claims, by turning on the WIFI on your phone, to connect with your WIFI in your home.
That it will help boost your cell phone reception, I may be wrong, but I always thought WIFI was for data only.

WiFi won't do anything for your cell reception. Of course if you are using VoIP it might help you make calls, but that's different.
