Help LOW sound quality

So I read the reviews before buying this tablet and they all said that the only complaint was it was too quiet...I thought, it can't be that bad...but boy is it...I've got it turned all the way up and can barely hear a movie...the weird thing is that music plays nice, not loud, but nice. And Youtube is low...but playing a movie (and I've tried a couple plus netflix) you can barely hear them even holding it up to your head...Obviously it can go louder because it does it for music...is there any way to boost the sound?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have to use headphones to watch movies, but no good if you want to share.
I don't know what Acer did with the audio on the A200. They had it pretty right on the A500, but I notice they took Dolby out of the settings and maybe that's the key.

Maybe Acer can keep the price of the A200 down by not implementing Dolby technology (which is licensed), but sound quality suffers.

With headphones there's plenty of volume. I turn it down to 50% for comfort

I just looked at this tablet at Best Buy with the intention of purchasing it but walked away empty handed. In the moderately noisy store the Acer A200 was completely inaudible without holding it up to my ear. Both the tablet volume and app volume were turned all the way up so it was all the volume this tablet is capable of. The sound output of even the Kindle Fire was just fine in the same environment. I don't understand how such an obvious problem can make it through Acer product development and onto store shelves.

Hi I have had my A200 for nearly a week now I didn't really notice the sound level for a couple of days too busy having fun with it anyway it is not the best particularly in noisy environments strange how Acer have placed speakers on back near bottom rather than on sides! I listen to most things through bluetooth headphones or I hook up to amp via bluetooth dongle anyway so its not a big deal to me price was prime motivation again I am very happy with it

I have a A200 and need to use it with SKYPE for business and pleasure. But i can tell you that the MICROPHONE sound is complete crap. it sounds so muffled that people on the other end can not understand a word you are saying. Also i have to agree that the sound level is LOW LOW LOW.. try watching HULU ... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN EITHER.. says NOT SUPPORTED even tho it should play.. I used a browser called 'FLASH BROWSER' but that is SLOW and has a lot of studdering. THANK GOD i decided to rent this before buying it from a RENT-A-CENTER.. Its going back as soon as my 2 weeks are up. I called Support and they told me that there is nothing that can be done either.. Someone needs to write an APP to increase the volume output,...

Volume+ can fix the the speaker sounds to bump it up. ICS also seems to fix the sound recorder a bit. Talked with my sister over Google Talk Video and Tango yesterday, and she said I was clear.

When I was reviewing the various tablets before making my final decision I read the same reviews regarding the volume. I have to say though that since getting it two days ago I cannot see where the complaints are coming from.

I played two different movies, a couple videos recorded from my Android phone, a song, and a couple of ringtone files. In every single case the audio was more than adequate. So maybe a hardware change was made because of the complaints (highly unlikely), or something else has changed but either way I have absolutely no issue with the volume as it is. And this was before the ICS update.

Has there been a fix for this since the ICS update? Volume+ won't work with ICS.

Edit: ok, didn't realize the paid version DOES work with ics... Big difference in sound, still not great, but at least bearable.

If you use volume+, dont leave it boosted up for an extended period of time, as it can potentially damage your speakers. Good little app though.
