low space

[Android Question]

i have a zte merit straight talk, and i keep getting storage space low, text message vannot come through, etc. i only use my phone for calls, texts and fb. can someone PLEASE in very simple terms, give me step by steps how to get rid of whatever is taking up all my space on this phone? i am going crazy and am way too stupid for a smartphone, apparently!! lol. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!!!

What's taking up space is anything you have on the phone - apps, music, pictures, videos, etc. (Texts do also, but each text takes very little space. If you have many hundreds, they can be taking a lot of space.)

What you do about it is up to you, but you have to delete something to gain back some space.
