Help Lowering proximity sensor delay

Newbie
hi all,

Is there any way of changing (or an application) that would allow me to set the proximity sensor to work faster ?
Whenever I make a call and need to dial some extension number (i.e. when calling to a hostpital) the screen is already off and I need to wait 3-4 sec for the screen to light up. Same is when I want to end a call sometimes faster, I need to wait for the screen to light up so that buttons also would appear and it will be possible.

I know there's 'Screeble' app not allowing the phone to switch off the screen, but on the other hand this often leads to end a call by mistake with my cheek...

Maybe You have any suggetions?

thanks

Hi,
I don't know about an app to change the response time for the proximity sensor. I know it's annoying.
Another thing is ending a call: you don't have to wait until your screen lights up, simply end the call by pressing the on/off button (not too long of course, you don't want to shut off your phone).

Yes Marcha, I know I can do it that way, but it's not as comfortable as simple tapping the screen to end a call.

Anyway, thanks for suggestion.

Hi,
I'm guessing you are on a version of Gingerbread!! A known problem/complaint.
I've stuck with the stock Froyo 2.2.1 & have no such problems, screen comes on instantly & makes it quick to use keypad etc in-call!! :) Graham. London

graham, you're serious?

I have currently 2.3.6 kp6 ( I was said it's most stable and so on) - I installed it after having 2.3.4 and later on 2.3.6 kt7.
So now going back to froyo is a good solution you think ? Do I loose sthg here?

hi again guys,

I'm back to ask about the sensor again cause this delay is really strange.
I searched the internet in search for some solutions to this situation (instead of reinstalling rom to Froyo) and found out, that there is a command to dial *#*#0588#*#* - after we type this in, the screen appears where we can test the proximity sensor. And to my surprise, it works 3 times faster, than during a call. I move my finger above and away the sensor, and detection is much faster...

So maybe it have sthg to do with dialer itself and its connectivity with sensor?

Any of You guys heard maybe about adding a line 'mot.proximity.delay=25' to the build.prop file? Anyone had any experience if it helps or not?

Using Root Explorer.
You get into the System folder and then click mount r/w on the top of the screen, long press on the build.prop file and edit what You want.

I read it on some page, but to me, editing (adding) this line didn't help anything. That's why I asked here if anyone tried this or knows about this method.

This is very annoying. My cheeks ends the call and all the time phone screen locks itself and never wake when I'm done with calling. This incur additional calling charges. Googles a lot no solution.
